More than 7 in 10 US adults aged ≥20 years have overweight or obesity, according to the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While rates are lower for children, they have significantly increased in the past few decades. Moreover, obesity may be an even bigger issue depending on which state is being considered.

To find out where obesity and overweight most dangerously persist, WalletHub recently compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 31 key metrics including food and fitness, health consequences, obesity and overweight prevalence, and more in both adults and children (aged 10-17 years).
