Insulin resistance is not only a biochemical phenomenon. It can also apply to reluctance on the patient’s part to accept insulin therapy. In this podcast, Dr. Robert Gabbay shares some strategies that can improve patient compliance with insulin therapy.

Robert A. Gabbay, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and Director of The Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity. Dr. Gabbay is a clinical researcher focused on developing mechanisms to improve diabetes care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. He is also leading a unique, state-wide initiative aimed at transforming diabetes care in Pennsylvania to be aligned with the chronic care model of disease management. Dr. Gabbay maintains an active clinical practice, and is responsible for supervising the Hershey Medical Center Diabetes Team. As Director of The Penn State Diabetes Hershey Institute for Diabetes and Obesity, he has worked with Drs. Jan Ulbrecht, Thomas Gardner, and Jim Jefferson to facilitate greater research ties between diabetes investigators at University Park and The College of Medicine.
