The Lowdown on Eyedrops for the Elderly
A better way for elderly patients to insert eyedrops in order to prevent positional vertigo.

Tilting the head back to put in eyedrops can precipitate benign positional vertigo in elderly patients. To minimize the risk of an attack, recommend that older patients put in eyedrops while lying in bed, rather than when sitting or standing. Also advise them to wait a few minutes, after inserting the drops, before they change position.
