The Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) is a minor nuisance to most patients, but can be a big deal for patients in these three special circumstances, said Elizabeth Swanson, MD.
Patient Care Online got a chance to speak with Swanson via Zoom about what these circumstances are and what primary care physicians and pediatricians need to know about them.
Swanson presented a session at the 2025 American Academy of Dermatology meeting in Orlando, Florida, titled "Big Rashes in Little Patients." She was joined in that session by Karen Chernoff, MD, and JiaDe Yu, MD.
Swanson, of St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise, Idaho, is board certified in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology, She is a past president of the Colorado Dermatologic Society, and a frequent lecturer at conferences such as AAD, discussing pediatric dermatology with clinical audiences from all across the country.
