US COVID-19 mortalities have surpassed 500 000. We summarize more of today's data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, February 23, 2021 at 9:24 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 28 191 227 confirmed cases
• 500 443 deaths

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 3 536 946
2. Texas: 2 606 761
3. Florida: 1 872 923
4. New York: 1 597 969
5. Illinois: 1 175 568

Deaths: California has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 49 541 reported fatalities, followed by New York with 46 924, and Texas with 42 301.

Recoveries*: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 2 331 940 people who have recovered, followed by Ohio with 889 959 recoveries, and Pennsylvania with 814 366.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 47 320 802 people tested, followed by New York with 36 603 611 people tested, and Florida with 21 187 430 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 111 830 264 confirmed cases, 2 476 826 deaths, and 63 104 189 recoveries.
