COVID-19 Update: US and Global Cases, Deaths, and Recoveries as of August 25, 2020

Global confirmed cases of COVID-19 are approaching 24 million. We summarize more of today's global and US data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, August 25, 2020 at 9:28 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 5 742 308 confirmed cases
• 177 312 deaths
• 2 020 774 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 676 478
2. Florida: 602 829
3. Texas: 598 530
4. New York: 430 145
5. Georgia: 256 253

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 32 887 reported fatalities, followed by New Jersey with 15 946 deaths, and California with 12 261.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 457 182 people who have recovered, followed by North Carolina with 136 630 recoveries and Louisiana with 118 120.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 10 652 487 people tested, followed by New York with 7 683 190 people tested, and Texas with 4 670 875 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 23 683 592 confirmed cases, 814 008 deaths, and 15 362 813 recoveries.
