COVID-19 Update: US and Global Cases, Deaths, and Recoveries as of August 14, 2020

Global confirmed cases of COVID-19 are approaching 21 million. We summarize more of today's global and US data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, August 14, 2020 at 8:27 AM, EDT, there have been:

• 5 254 878 confirmed cases
• 167 253 deaths
• 1 774 648 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. California: 602 997
2. Florida: 557 137
3. Texas: 530 857
4. New York: 423 440
5. Georgia: 228 668

Deaths: New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 32 805 reported fatalities, followed by New Jersey with 15 893 deaths, and California with 10 999.

Recoveries: Texas leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 375 760 people who have recovered, followed by North Carolina with 116 969 recoveries and Louisiana with 103 512.

Tests administered: California leads in number of persons tested with 9 445 493 people tested, followed by New York with 6 816 381 people tested, and Texas with 4 230 763 people tested.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally?

Globally, there have been 20 952 811 confirmed cases, 760 235 deaths, and 13 015 397 recoveries.
