Which US states are seeing a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases?

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID Data Tracker, as of July 5, 2020 at 5:45 PM, the states with the greatest number of reported cases in the last 7 days are:

1. Florida: 66 516
2. California: 54 284
3. Texas: 54 166
4. Arizona: 28 095
5. Georgia: 20 324

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the US?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, July 6, 2020 at 8:36 AM, there have been:

• 2 888 915 confirmed cases
• 129 948 deaths
• 906 763 recoveries

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. New York: 397 131
2. California: 264 812
3. Florida: 200 111
4. Texas: 194 932
5. New Jersey: 173 402

New York has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with 32 206 reported fatalities, followed by New Jersey with 15 211 deaths, and Massachusetts with 8183.

Massachusetts now leads in recoveries from COVID-19 with 93 157 people who have recovered, followed by New York with 70 968 recoveries and Pennsylvania with 70 086.

California leads in number of patients tested with 4 680 138 people tested, followed by New York with 4 233 803 people tested, and Florida with 2 200 199 people tested.
