Atopic Dermatitis is Not "Just" Eczema: Disease Primer with Mona Shahriari, MD

Dermatology thought leader Mona Shihriari, MD, offers a brief overview of the inflammatory skin disease for primary care clinicians.

Atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema, affects approximately 10% of US adults and 15% of US children, Mona Shahriari, MD, said in a recent interview with Patient Care. And up to 40% of those affected require treatment. In the video segment above, Shahriari provides a primer on the underlying pathophysiology of the condition and stresses the importance of staying current with diagnostic and treatment advances.

Mona Shahriari, MD, is assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut and co-founder of Central Connecticut Dermatology in Cromwell, Connecticut.
